With the FTI Packages, the link attenuation (Optical Power Loss) must be calculated for each fiber cabling run.
Allowable loss:
- Connector : 0.75 dB
- Splice : 0.3 dB
- Cable @ 850nm : 3.5 db / km
- Cable @ 1300nm : 1.5 dB / km
Assuming a 50 meter link had two connectors & a splice. We decide to measure at 1300 nm, the affordable power loss budget would be calculated in the following way:
