The PVC (Permanent Virtual Circuit) is a permanent connection between two DTEs (Data Terminal Equipment) using a fixed logical channel. Once established it requires no setup or disconnect operations before and after a data transmission. PVC also can mean "poly vinyl chloride", a plastic commonly used for cladding cable.
